APRIL FAVOURITES

Saturday 3 May 2014

It's favourites time again! This month features a mascara, lip glosses, nail polish and texturising spray. I might tell you about some other non beauty related favourites at the end too! I hope you enjoy an insight into what I've been loving this month.

Maybelline ColourSensational Gloss in Stellar Berry and Gleaming Grenadine

I've seen so many people raving about these glosses. I'm not a huge gloss fan, I much prefer the feel of matte lipsticks. However, I've fallen head over heels in love with these. First, I picked up the shade Stellar Berry - a dark berry shade - and I knew I wanted a red shade so Gleaming Grenadine was right up my street. I also want to pick up a pretty nude shade, preferably Cashmere Rose.

I usually find lip glosses quite sticky but this is the complete opposite. It's incredibly moisturising for the lips and the staying power is good, although it could be a bit better. Vivianna from VDM has claimed that these shine glosses might even be a dupe for the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors. These glosses are very pigmented, which is what I love about them. They're less than £10 so I'll be buying more when I next pop into Boots.

Essie Nail Polish Splash of Grenadine

Pink is one of those colours that I never usually reach for in my nail polish bag. However, I've been loving this pink shade from Essie. It's a magenta pink and I get so many compliments whenever I wear it. Essie is my favourite nail polish brand. I find their polishes are so long lasting and the shades are gorgeous. They can be seen to be a tad expensive at £7.99 but they're definitely worth the money.

I found the shade after Essie Button was wearing it in a few of her videos. Reading blogs and watching beauty YouTube videos is soooo bad for my bank account. I also want to get my hands on Turquoise & Caicos and Lapiz of Luxury. If only Essie was in my nearby Boots....(or maybe not, it's saving me a lot of money by not being nearby)

Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray

I've heard this is a dupe for the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray but about £30 cheaper. My hair is really fine so it can look a bit flat, especially if I haven't blow dried it. I spray this into my roots and back comb sections for added volume. It's kinda like hairspray but I find this lasts a lot longer on my hair. My only concern is that if I use too much it can add lots of knots to my hair. But I try and spray it evenly across the roots to avoid any big knots.

The best thing about this spray is the smell. That might sound weird but it's amazing! I could include this in my monthly favourites just for the smell alone!

Revlon Lash Potion Mascara

The triple groove wand is what drove me to buy this mascara. I hate mascaras that clump up your eyelashes and make them stick together. This mascara hasn't got the best reviews on the Boots website but I've been loving it. I used to use the Soap & Glory mascara but it's dried up now so it's no longer good for my lashes.

I know Fleur DeForce loves this mascara, it's included in her Top 10 Under £10: Mascara video.

What else I've been loving...

The Vampire Diaries - such a good show! I stopped enjoying it for a while but it's back to being amazing.

South Bank - if you've been reading my blog recently, you will have seen a couple of posts about the South Bank, including the Martin Creed exhibition and an OOTD.

Vogue - I started reading Vogue fairly recently and I absolutely love it. The photos are gorgeous, and although I can't afford any of the clothes featured in the magazine, I just love admiring all the different looks.

  3. I've not heard of those lip glosses before but they look so lovely. I've been eyeing up Essie polishes though and just can't decide which shade to go for first!
