Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

I should have written this post a couple of months back. I've featured this palette on a favourites post in the past, and it's truly one of my favourite things! My boyfriend bought me this for Christmas after lots of hinting and I've been using it non-stop ever since. I wanted to share my thoughts with you and show you some swatches.

The Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette consists of 12 shades, which you can see below, and range from mattes, pearls and metallics. There is a strong emphasis on rose gold hues but the darker colours will suit anyone looking to create a smokey eye look. I've divided the lighter and darker shades in these next photos so you can see the difference in colour.

The first half of the palette contains the following shades: Strange (more of a base colour), Dust (a shimmery pink), Burnout (slightly darker/more peach version of Dust), Limit (matte pink), Buzz (a dusty pink shimmer), Trick (rose gold shimmery shade) and Nooner (matte dusty pink). Sorry if my description isn't that great for each shade - it's harder than you think to describe eye shadows.

The next shades are a lot darker and consist of Liar (light grey shimmer), Factory (light brown), Mugshot (shimmery dark brown), Darkside (matte grey) and Blackheart (black shimmer).

Urban Decay have been incredibly successful with their Naked palettes. Three years ago, The Naked Palette became one of the best selling palettes so it was swiftly followed by a second one, and the third (this one) was released just before Christmas. All the shades in this palette are never before seen shades for the UD range and aren't available anywhere else. The palette includes a double ended brush for application and blending and samples of the primer potions, which I have been loving.

My favourite shades so far are: Nooner, Liar, Factory and Mugshot. I much prefer the smokier shades for a nighttime look and veer towards the rose gold shades for the daytime. My least favourite is probably Strange and Dust. They are good shades if you want to use them as a base and build upon them but other than that you should avoid using them on their own.

Pros

  • The texture of these shadows are amazing, they glide onto the lids and last for hours and hours (leading on to my next pro...)
  • Longevity! I've used these with the primer potions and the shadows last all day and all night.
  • Difference in pigmentation in all the shades; there are mattes, shimmers and all other varieties you'd need under one palette roof.

Cons

  • There's not a massive difference in colour, which is why it might have been difficult for me to describe them all. Don't get me wrong, the shades are all lovely but some of them are perhaps too similar.
  • The brush included in the palette is not that great (I'm clutching at straws with this one).

Truthfully, there is not much wrong with this palette. It's day and nighttime appropriate and it lasts throughout the day. It's surprisingly my first palette and I'm not on the lookout for any more. When I open it up I usually glare at it for a good 5 minutes before I use it - It's just that pretty! It retails at £37, which you may think is quite expensive but it's definitely worth it. I love it and I suggest you go out and buy one ASAP!

What do you think of your Naked 3 Palette?

love, Cally
