REVIEW & SWATCHES | REVLON COLORBURST MATTE BALMS

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms
I've raved about the greatness of Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms in passing on my blog, but I haven't properly told you how amazing they are. I only own 4 but boy, they are gooood! I want to let you know a bit more about them, and show you some swatches. You'll never need another lip product again once you hear about these!

The matte balms only launched in January but they have taken the  world by storm. The crayon style packaging has been increasingly popular recently, and you can fit more product inside which is always a plus! It comes in a variety of udifferent shades:

Complex: a brown nude
Elusive: a light pink
Sultry: plum
Showy: bright pink
Unapologetic: pinky red
Shameless: purple
Mischievous: light orange
Audacious: coral red
Striking: cherry red
Standout: dark red

The 4 I have are Elusive, Complex, Audacious and Striking. I think I've got quite a good mixture: a natural but better looking lip (Elusive), a true nude (Complex), a orange/coral colour (Audacious) and a subtle red (Striking).

The formula is made up of Shea, Mango and Coconut butter, which is meant to moisturise the lips. The colour is opaque and achieves a matte finish almost instantly. I've read countless reviews of the products; one of the main complaints was that it dried out the lips. I didn't find this at all, I thought it made my lips a lot softer, especially when applied after exfoliating.

Pros
  • Made my lips very soft
  • I loved the smell of it - there's a light peppermint fragrance (I can't stop smelling it)
  • The colour range is varied
  • Can build upon the colour, or add a different sheen for another look

Cons
  • Doesn't last very long, you'll definitely have to apply it more than once if you want it to last throughout the day

L-R: Complex, Elusive, Audacious (more orange on the lips) and Striking)

If you want a lip product that provides great colour, makes your lips velvety soft and brightens up your whole look then I'd recommend the ColorBurst balms. There are also Lacquer versions but I prefer a matte finish to a glossy one. I think Revlon have all bases covered with the shades so you're bound to find a colour that suits you. Next time you're in Boots or Superdrug have a look at the Revlon section - you won't regret it!

Have you tried any of the matte balms? What are your thoughts?

  2. I bought Elusive a few days ago and I looooove it! I'm a bit mad for the smell too, it makes a nice change to the funky smells some of my lipsticks have... Great review, by the way! x

  5. I have Elusive and have been loving it. I don't normally go for pink, but thought I should try something new! For me it's a bit brighter than I expected - more of a candy pink than a nude, but it's pretty all the same :) I'm not sure I'm brave enough for coral, but I would love to be!
